Metal furniture factory in Ukraine: laser welding for invisible seams
A Ukrainian metal furniture manufacturer adopted portable laser welding to eliminate the grinding step and reduce finishing time by 70%.

A metal furniture factory in western Ukraine was producing table frames, chairs, and cabinet bodies from steel and stainless steel. Traditional MIG welding left visible beads that then required grinding and polishing, a long and costly process, especially on stainless steel where any scratch shows.
The challenge
Their clients (hotels, offices, restaurants) demanded flawless finishes with no visible weld marks. The team spent nearly as much time on grinding and polishing as on the welding itself. Finishing labor cost had become a significant part of the final product price.
The solution
They integrated the 1500 W portable laser welder into their production line. The laser produces an extremely fine bead with minimal thermal distortion. On thin stainless steel sheet (1-3 mm), the bead is so clean that no grinding is needed, just a light wipe.
The result
Finishing time dropped by 70%. A part that previously went through welding, grinding, polishing, and cleaning now goes through laser welding and cleaning only. Visual quality increased because there is no longer a risk of scratches from grinding discs. Operators learned to use the laser gun in a few days, and the reduced heat-affected zone means thin parts no longer warp during welding.
