  • 1,400 mm line: 2 blanks across the width
  • 1,800 mm line: 3 blanks across the width
  • 2,500 mm line: 4 blanks across the width

How we calculate

The FEFCO 0201 is the standard shipping box: four walls, top and bottom flaps that meet in the middle, and a glue flap on the side.

  • ✓Blank length: twice the length plus twice the width, each with the board thickness added, plus the 35 mm glue flap.
  • ✓Blank width: the box height plus the box width (two flaps of half the width each), plus three board thicknesses.
  • ✓Outside dimensions add two thicknesses to length and width and four to the height.
  • ✓Weight is the blank area times the board weight per m².
  • ✓Thicknesses used: E 1.5 mm, B 3 mm, C 4 mm, EB 4.5 mm, BC 7 mm.

Frequently asked questions

What is a FEFCO 0201 box?

It is the standard corrugated shipping box, with top and bottom flaps that close in the middle. The code comes from the international FEFCO catalogue and it is the most widely used box style.

How do I calculate a box blank size?

For FEFCO 0201, the sheet length is twice the length plus twice the width plus the glue flap, and the sheet width is the box height plus the box width. Board thickness is added to each. The calculator above does this automatically.

Which board should I choose: 3-ply or 5-ply?

3-ply board (E, B, C) is enough for most light and medium products. 5-ply board (EB, BC) is used for heavy products, high stacking or long transport.

Can I produce these boxes in my own workshop?

Yes. With bought-in board sheets and a K4 flexo carton machine you print, crease and slot the boxes yourself. With the corrugated line you also make the board, straight from paper.
